Abstract
This paper examines the different commercial activities that have been pursued by airport authorities. It maintains a number of external factors over which individual operators have no control, have prompted a series of strategies designed to increase non aeronautical revenues. The paper first identifies the factors that have prompted this response. It then details the different commercial strategies that have been followed. Finally, it draws a series of conclusions on the nature of commercial competition within the airport sector.
