Abstract
This paper provides an over view of how the new economy and the Internet have and are likely to change the conduct of business. The Internet creates value on both sides on the demand side by allowing firms to customize to suit specific consumer needs and on the supply side by reducing costs. Our particular interest is in identifying opportunities for airports, which are almost an afterthought in the travel industry. Our survey of online trends indicates that airports are essentially local brands and the value proposition lies in complementing the local economy.
